Signs of Infertility

For most of the people it may be an odd question to ask, but then have you ever noticed in yourself any of the signs of infertility? Infertility can happen to anyone, both of the sexes and at any age. For a couple who have been having been having a sexual relationship for more than an year or so without using contraceptives and still are unable to conceive, it is an obvious sign of infertility. But what is the real cause and what are the other signs of infertility? We must know these because infertility is a growing problem and not able to produce an offspring can often cause a lot of heartache to a couple looking forward to a baby. Here below we have listed down a few signs of infertility and if any of these ring a bell with you, then it is high time that you take an appointment with a doctor and start a treatment immediately.

Amenorrhea ?

This is one of the most common signs of infertility in women. Amenorrhea is basically irregularity of periods or menstruation cycle in women and should be treated immediately. Women don?t menstruate before reaching puberty, while they are carrying (are pregnant) and after menopause. But apart from these three times their menstrual cycle should be regular and any deviation from the monthly cycle should be considered a sign of infertility.
Amenorrhea can be caused by a number of reasons like changes in organs, glands, hormonal imbalances, as a side effect of certain medicines and drugs, excessive smoking or drinking or both etc.

Sometimes the reproductive system and organs in a woman?s body are malformed which can result in Amenorrhea. At other times, consistent failure of the ovaries that hold the eggs with which sperm cells combine to produce a baby can also become a cause of amenorrhea. Even cases have been reported where infertility occurred due to problem in brain and spinal cord.

Amenorrhea is a sign of infertility which must be treated immediately.

Miscarriages ?

It is one of those signs of infertility which people often overlook. Miscarriage is considered to be the death of the little one inside before the 5th month or the 20th week into pregnancy. According to a study, nearly 50% babies die during miscarriages and most of the women don?t even realize that they have had a miscarriage until a medical report or a doctor brings it to light. While miscarriage in itself cannot be considered as the whole and sole reason of infertility, but if it happens consistently then there certainly may be a problem in the reproductive sytem.

Some other Signs of infertility ?

An Obstetrician or a gynecologist can look for other signs of infertility which may not be visible to the naked eye like damage to the tissues of the reproductive organs, inflammation in the pelvic region, tumors etc. At times there is unwanted growth of bacteria or tumors (also known as fibroids) on the inner walls of the uterus which hamper the normal reproductive cycle. If you are afflicted with any of these signs of infertility then you must seek medical attention immediately without fail
