It has been generally believed that being infertile has nothing to do with the chauvinistic men, but in reality male infertility is as much a possibility as is female infertility. Till a few decades back it was thought that if a couple is unable to have a child the woman is at fault since they were seen as responsible for the whole process of the birth of a child. But this superfluous theory has a huge hole in its center. If you are reading this article and you are having problems to conceive a child then you must know a thing or two about male infertility. It would be so unfair to waste your precious time on deciding on whom to blame, but with the advancement of medical science it is possible to address to the problem in a proper manner.
Now the question arises that how common/uncommon is this male infertility?
If a couple is having a problem in conceiving a child then it is equally likely that either of the man or the woman is responsible for it i.e. the chances of man being infertile is half and so is the chance of a woman. Historically it has been observed that 10% of the couples who are trying to conceive face difficulty in doing so. Now we can actually have a blueprint in our mind about the magnitude of this problem
The next question that comes to mind is why do men face such a problem or what is the cause of male infertility?
The most commonly observed cause for the same is low sperm count or inability to produce adequate sperm that would be required to ferment the egg in a woman?s vagina. Various other causes which people (especially men) overlook is
? Excessive smoking- Smoking not only hurts your lungs but it also severely reduces the sperm count and stamina thereby causing irreversible damage to the reproductive system in men.
? An injury or disease the genital region can also lead to inability of man to impregnate her female partner. So keep it clean and safe always.
? Low sperm motility which is also known as ?lazy? or ?slow? sperm also leads to infertility in men. Keep a check on your sperm count and contact a doctor if there?s anything alarming.
? Cases where sperm ducts have been clocked have also lead to male infertility.
